Victron 12.8/100 Smart LFP battery has a nominal capacity of 100Ah at 25°C. The battery includes integrated cell balancing and monitoring and can be parallel and series connected. Bluetooth connectivity is also included so battery status can be monitored via Victron's Li-ion smart app (NOTE: Maximum charge voltage should not exceed 14.2V).
Charging directly via an alternator is not possible, a B-B charger, "buck-boost" or other method of charge control is required if alternator charging is required. To protect the Li-Ion battery from over/under voltage and over-temperature, an external BMS system is also needed.
Benefits: A 12V Li-Ion battery is made of 4 x 3.2V individual cells connected in series, compared with Lead-acid, which is made up of 6 x 2V cells. The main benefits of Lithium compared with Lead-acid are huge cyclic life (over 2500 cycles to 80% DoD), efficiency in charging/discharging and the ability to use over 90% of the battery capacity without detrimental effects on the battery life.
